Common Materials For Non-standard Gear Processing
Nov 11, 2024| The different working conditions and failure forms of non-standard gears are the basis for determining the calculation criteria, material selection and heat treatment of gear strength.
1. When using low carbon steel: the forging process is blank → normalizing → rough cutting → quenching and tempering → fine cutting → carburizing surface quenching → low temperature tempering → grinding. Up to level 6 and 7.
Ordinary materials: 20cr, 20crmnti, 20mnb, 20crmnto; Features: high tooth surface hardness and strong load-bearing capacity. More suitable for high speed, heavy load, or compact structure.
2. Cast steel: When the precision gear is larger than 400mm in diameter and has difficulty in forging with complex structure, continuous cast steel can be used; Zg45. Zg55, standardization, standardization, conditioning.
3. Cast iron: strong resistance to abrasion and pitting, but poor resistance to impact wear. Suitable for stable operation, low power, low speed or large size and complex shape. It can work without oil and is suitable for open drive.
4. Non-metallic materials: cloth, wood, plastic, nylon, suitable for high speed and light load.
