How To Properly Operate Anchor Line Shears?

Nov 19, 2025|

1. Equipment Inspection and Preparation
Hydraulic System: Check the hydraulic oil pump oil level and the sealing of the oil pipe connections to ensure there are no leaks.
Cutter Condition: Confirm that the cutter head (Cr12MoV alloy steel, quenched) is free from wear or cracks, and the cutting surface error should be ≤0.5mm.
Power Adaptation: Select a manual oil pump, pneumatic oil pump, or hydraulic power unit according to the model. Pneumatic models require setting the rated pressure (usually 60MPa).
2. Cutting Operation Steps
Positioning the Anchor Cable: Align the exposed steel strand (diameter ≤24mm) with the cutter blade, ensuring there is no twisting.
Starting the Cutting:
Manual model: Operate the hydraulic pump at a constant speed, avoiding sudden pressure increases.
Pneumatic model: Complete the cutting in 3-5 seconds, paying attention to the stability of the pressure gauge.
Completion and Reset: Immediately turn off the power source after cutting, clean up debris, and check the cutter head for wear.
3. Safety Regulations
Environmental Restrictions: Do not use when the methane concentration is ≥1%, and ensure good ventilation in the work area.
Collaborative Operation: Two people are required for cutting (one person controls the equipment, one person monitors), and three people are required for anchor removal operations.
Emergency Handling: If there is an oil leak or abnormal pressure, immediately stop the operation and release the pressure for inspection and repair.
4. Maintenance and Replacement
Cutter Life: The blade needs to be replaced after 300 cuts, and anti-rust oil should be applied regularly.
Hydraulic Oil Replacement: Replace every 6 months or when the oil becomes cloudy, to prevent impurities from affecting the sealing performance.
Precautions
Do not cut anchor cables exceeding the rated diameter (e.g., MQS-18 model is limited to 17.80mm).
If the roof is fractured, reinforce the support before operation to prevent the anchor cable from rebounding and causing injury.
