How To Properly Operate And Maintain A Pneumatic Rib Drill?

Oct 15, 2025|

Preparation Before Operation
1. Air Supply Check: Ensure the compressed air pressure is stable at 0.4-0.63 MPa. The air hose should be equipped with a water separator, and accumulated water should be drained regularly to prevent moisture from damaging the pneumatic motor lubrication or blocking the exhaust port.
2. Lubrication Management: Hang an oiler at the air inlet (200ml oil capacity, leaving 10% empty space), and adjust the atomized oil volume to lubricate the pneumatic motor components; use ZL-2 lithium-based grease for bearing lubrication.
3. Drill Bit Inspection: Confirm the elasticity and wear resistance of the drill rod, and clean any sand or foreign objects from the air hose before installation.
Drilling Operation Guidelines
1. Hole Opening Control: The initial rotation speed should not be too fast; gradually increase the speed after drilling 30mm.
2. Wet Drilling: Water pressure should be 0.6-1.2 MPa, and the water quality must be clean to prevent clogging.
3. Drill Bit Removal Technique: After reaching the desired depth, reduce the speed and steadily withdraw the drill rod using gravity.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
1. Daily Maintenance: After operation, run the drill briefly without load to remove water and prevent rust, and check for loose bolts and damage.
2. Abnormal Rotation Speed: If the motor speed slows down, check for clogged exhaust ports or damaged oil film.
3. Anti-Torque Protection: Stand firmly and grip the handle tightly during loading/unloading to avoid imbalance.
Safety Precautions
Operators must be certified and stand outside the swing arm, keeping their body at least 10cm away from the drill body.
Do not wear gloves when holding the drill rod. Apply even pressure to avoid jamming or breaking the drill rod.
