Common Pneumatic Rib Drill Faults

Aug 07, 2026|

I. Gas System Faults
Difficulty starting the drill; low speed under no-load, failing to reach rated power.
Sudden shutdown during operation; unable to function normally after restarting.
Black smoke emitted from the exhaust port, accompanied by a noticeable oily odor.
Air leaks at pipe joints and valves, accompanied by hissing noises.

II. Mechanical Transmission Faults
Weak rotation of the drill bit and drill rod, significantly reducing drilling efficiency.
Metallic clanging sounds and harsh friction noises during drill operation.
Drill bit accidentally falls off during operation, or drill rod breaks.
Rapid wear of internal gears and bearings, causing jamming and poor rotation.

III. Drilling Operation Faults
Stuck drill bit; drill rod cannot advance or retract normally.
Severe borehole deviation, unable to reach the preset drilling angle.
Severe vibration of the entire drill rig; numbness felt when operating by hand.
Drilling speed far below standard values, significantly increasing operation time.
