Common problems with Pneumatic Rib Drills
Jul 29, 2026| 1. Insufficient power and slow drilling speed: Often caused by an incompletely open air supply valve, blocked/leaky air pipes, worn drill bits, incorrect drill specifications, or excessively hard rock formations in the tunnel, resulting in insufficient thrust.
2. Insufficient output torque/speed: Often caused by insufficient air supply pressure, failed pipe seals, lack of internal lubricant, or wear on transmission parts such as gears and bearings.
3. Abnormal overheating of the gearbox: Mainly caused by depleted grease, worn and stuck bearings, abnormal gear meshing clearance, or prolonged high-load operation.
4. Abnormal noise and air leakage: Damaged silencers and pitting wear on gear bearings can cause abnormal noise; failed valve body seals or springs, or damaged pipe joint seals can cause air leakage.
