Common Reasons Why the Outrigger Fails to Descend on a Pneumatic Anchor Drill Rig

May 06, 2026|

1. Blocked Exhaust Hole or Valve: The outrigger's descent relies on the discharge of internal gas. If the exhaust hole or valve on the three-way valve body or the fixing sleeve is blocked by coal dust or oil, gas cannot be released in time, preventing the outrigger from descending.

2. Damaged or Worn Seals: Damaged outrigger seals, O-rings, or three-way shaft seals can cause air leakage in the cylinder, affecting air pressure balance and hindering descent. If you feel resistance when manually pulling the outrigger, it usually indicates that the seals need replacement.

3. Insufficient Air Pressure or Unstable Air Supply: An air supply pressure below 0.4MPa, or problems such as air leaks, damaged hoses, or blocked filters in the air circuit, can lead to insufficient thrust or abnormal operation of the outrigger.

4. Poor Lubrication or Excessive Oil: Insufficient lubrication increases resistance, while internal oil buildup can also obstruct piston movement. Regular cleaning and the addition of appropriate amounts of antifreeze lubricating oil are necessary. 5. Mechanical Structure Issues: Bending of the telescopic tube, rust on the outer sleeve, or damage to the dust seal will directly affect the sliding performance of the outriggers. Rust should be checked and cleaned, and worn rubber cups should be replaced.
