How to properly install new bearings for Pneumatic Roofbolters
Jun 24, 2026| I. Pre-installation Preparation
1. Clean the environment and components: Keep the installation environment clean. Thoroughly clean the bearing mounting holes and shaft surface of oil, dust, and impurities. Impurities will significantly shorten the bearing's lifespan.
2. Inspect the new bearing: Confirm that the bearing model and precision grade fully meet the requirements. Inspect the new bearing surface for scratches, rust, and dents. Do not install any bearings with defects.
3. Prepare tools and lubrication: Prepare a press, special tooling, or a soft copper hammer. Do not directly strike the bearing with a hammer. Apply a suitable amount of lubricating oil to the bearing and installation area beforehand to reduce installation friction.
II. Key Points for Standardized Installation Operation
1. Find the correct installation direction: Strictly follow the original bearing markings during installation. Do not reverse the direction. For bearings with special structures, align them with the original equipment manufacturer's markings.
2. Apply force evenly and avoid impact: Use a press for pressing whenever possible. Apply force evenly and smoothly, ensuring the resultant force passes completely through the bearing axis to avoid biased force that could damage the bearing. If hammering is necessary for installation, a soft metal (copper rod) should be placed under the inner ring of the bearing. Only the inner ring should be tapped; tapping the outer ring or transmitting force through the rolling elements is prohibited.
For on-site installation scenarios with pneumatic anchor drilling rigs, use a tool to evenly tap the bearing ring to ensure uniform force distribution. Once the tapping is complete, the bearing should rotate smoothly.
3. Adjustment Requirements for Different Types of Bearings:
Ball Bearings: Ensure the balls are evenly spaced and the force is balanced.
Tapered Roller Bearings: During installation, the bearing clearance must be adjusted according to the equipment requirements to ensure it meets the original manufacturer's standards.
Flat Thrust Ball Bearings: Ensure the raceway is aligned with the rolling elements to avoid misalignment and jamming.
III. Post-Installation Inspection
After installation, manually rotate the bearing to check: If rotation is smooth without jamming or abnormal noise, the installation is basically correct; if rotation is jammed or there is obvious abnormal noise, disassemble and inspect again to check for installation misalignment or bearing damage. Reassemble the equipment only after confirming everything is correct.
