How To Change The Oil in A Pneumatic Handheld Drill Rig?
Dec 08, 2025| 1. Preparation
Before starting, ensure you have the following tools and materials: oil suitable for your drill rig model, a wrench, a funnel, an oil collection container, and a clean cloth. Also, be sure to turn off the drill power and allow it to cool completely to avoid burns.
2. Draining the Old Oil
Locate the drain port at the bottom of the drill rig. Place the oil collection container underneath and carefully loosen the drain port bolt with a wrench to allow the old oil to drain completely. During the draining process, observe the color and condition of the old oil. If the color is too dark or contains impurities, it may indicate internal wear in the drill rig.
3. Cleaning and Inspection
After draining the old oil, carefully clean the drain port and its bolt with a clean cloth to remove any attached oil and impurities. If your drill rig is equipped with an oil filter, remove the old filter at this time as well. Before installing the new filter, apply a layer of new oil to its sealing ring to enhance the seal.
4. Add New Engine Oil
Insert the funnel into the drill rig's filler neck and slowly pour in new engine oil. When adding oil, please strictly refer to the drill rig's instruction manual and strictly control the amount added, ensuring the oil level is within the appropriate range indicated on the sight glass or dipstick. Too much oil will increase running resistance, while too little will not provide sufficient lubrication.
5. Completion and Inspection
After adding oil, tighten the drain plug. Then start the drill rig and run it for a few minutes, carefully checking all seals for leaks and confirming that the operation is stable and normal.
