Pneumatic Roofbolter Seal Replacement Procedure

Oct 10, 2025|

I. Preparation Before Replacement
1. Shutdown and Pressure Release
Turn off the air supply and release any residual pressure in the pipeline, ensuring the drill rig is completely stopped.
Clean the work area before disassembly to avoid dust contamination of the sealing surfaces.
2. Tools and Spare Parts
Prepare special circlip pliers, screwdriver, lubricant, and seals of the same model (such as Y-rings and water jacket seals).
II. Seal Removal and Installation
1. Air Leg Seal Replacement
Remove the outer cylinder of the support leg, and note the direction when removing the old seal (Y-ring convex side facing upwards).
Apply lubricant to the new seal before installation, avoiding twisting or excessive stretching.
2. Water Jacket Seal Replacement
Remove the water jacket assembly, check the sealing surface for wear, clean any remaining scale, and then install the new seal.
III. Testing and Debugging
1. Air Tightness Test
Slowly increase the pressure to the working pressure and check for leaks (such as at the support leg interface and water jacket connection).
If there is a leak, reassemble the seals, ensuring that the groove edges are rounded and free of burrs.
2. Function Verification
Operate the drill rig under no load, observe whether the air leg rises and falls smoothly, and whether there is any leakage in the water circuit.
IV. Precautions
Do not use gasoline to clean rubber parts; kerosene or a special cleaning agent is recommended.
Threaded parts should be wrapped with protective film when passing through the seals to avoid scratching.
