Bolt Mixer

Bolt Mixer

Also known as: Bolt mixing sleeve, drive socket; a supporting tool for mining roof bolt support, manufactured according to standard mining drilling tool processes.

  • Product Introduction
customized Bolt mixer

Also known as: Bolt mixing sleeve, drive socket; a supporting tool for mining roof bolt support, manufactured according to standard mining drilling tool processes. Material: primarily 40Cr / 42CrMo alloy steel, integrally forged, quenched and tempered, with a black oxide anti-rust finish.

Compatible equipment: Pneumatic roof bolters, hydraulic roof bolters, on-board drilling boxes of bolter-miners; common drive interfaces: B19 and B22 hexagons.

Function: Engages the bolt tail, transmits drill torque, and mixes resin cartridges; simultaneously drives the nut for tightening upon completion of mixing, enabling one-pass bolt installation.

Applications

Used for installing metal resin bolts in coal roadways, semi-coal/rock roadways, and rock roadways in underground coal mines.

1. Standard short type: Suitable when there is no obstruction at the borehole collar - trays, steel straps, and metal mesh do not interfere.

2. Extended-length type: Used when steel straps, metal mesh, or thick trays obstruct the collar, preventing the drill head from reaching the bolt.

⚠️ Note: Standard bolt mixers must not be used on fiberglass bolts. Fiberglass bolts require dedicated fiberglass bolt mixing sockets.

Structure

Drive hexagonal end

B19/B22 external hexagon with a pin hole; inserts into the drill output shaft and uses a retaining pin to transmit torque.

Barrel

Standard barrel / extended barrel (70–120mm extension); side walls have overflow/observation holes to discharge excess resin slurry and prevent internal clogging.

Internal cavity

Hexagonal socket that fits over the hexagonal head of the bolt tail, grips the bolt shank, and can drive the nut for rotation and pre-tensioning.

Common Specifications

Model Drive Interface Compatible Bolt Diameter Version
HSJBG‑16 B19/B22 Φ16 Standard / Extended‑L
HSJBG‑18 B19/B22 Φ18 Standard / Extended‑L
HSJBG‑20 B19/B22 Φ20 Standard / Extended‑L

Suffix "‑L" indicates extended-length type; suffix "‑J" indicates heavy-duty on-board type for roadheaders.

Standard vs. Extended-Length vs. Roadheader-Mounted Types

Item Standard Bolt Mixer Extended-Length Bolt Mixer Roadheader-Mounted Bolt Mixer
Barrel length Standard short barrel Extended by 70–120mm Standard / Extended with thicker wall
Supporting equipment Hand-held pneumatic roof bolter Hand-held pneumatic roof bolter Bolter-miner hydraulic drilling box
Application conditions No mesh/strap interference Steel straps, mesh, large trays interference On-board high-torque continuous operation
Torsional performance Conventional Reduced due to longer cantilever Highest strength, withstands high torque

Advantages

Integral forged and tempered construction transmits mixing torque; resin mixing and nut pre-tensioning are completed in one operation for high efficiency.

Overflow holes prevent resin from jamming the socket; easy to install and remove.

Universal interface allows direct interchangeability with B19/B22 underground drills.

Extended-length models resolve interference from support components, ensuring the bolt is mixed to the proper depth.

Precautions

For metal bolts only - prohibited for use on fiberglass bolts. Fiberglass bolts have low thread strength; gripping the nut will crack the bolt tail.

Size selection must match the hexagonal flats of the bolt tail. Mismatching causes slipping or damage to the bolt.

For extended-length types, choose the shortest extension that can clear obstructions to reduce the risk of torsional fracture.

Mixing time: 20–35 seconds for standard resin. Keep the drill pressed forward during mixing. After mixing, wait for the resin to reach initial set before reversing to remove the mixer. Premature reversal is strictly prohibited as it causes anchorage failure.

For on-board bolter-miner equipment, always use the ‑J heavy-duty type. Standard hand-held mixers cannot withstand the high torque of hydraulic drilling boxes and are prone to fracture.

Pre-operation inspection: check for barrel cracks, hexagonal wear/rounding, and internal cavity scoring. Discard immediately if any damage is found.
