How often should Pneumatic Roofbolters lubricating oil be changed?
Mar 23, 2026| I. Standard Replacement Cycle (Based on Equipment Operating Time)
Initial Replacement: After the equipment is put into operation, the first oil change should be performed approximately 300 hours. At this time, the gears and bearings have completed their "run-in," and the oil may contain metal shavings from initial wear, which need to be removed promptly.
Subsequent Replacements: After the first oil change, it is recommended to change the oil every 1500 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first. If the equipment operates continuously at high intensity, the interval can be appropriately shortened to 1200 hours.
✅ Key Points for Replacement: When changing the oil, clean the sediment at the bottom of the gearbox before adding new oil to avoid contaminant residue.
II. Shorter Cycle Required Under Harsh Operating Conditions
In high-dust, high-temperature, or humid environments, lubricating oil is easily contaminated, and its performance deteriorates more rapidly. The replacement cycle should be shortened to every 800-1000 hours, and daily inspections should be strengthened:
Observe whether the oil is black, milky, or foamy. If so, it indicates oxidation or water ingress, and it must be replaced immediately.
Check the oil level in the grease cup every shift to ensure continuous and effective lubrication.
III. Key Lubrication Points and Maintenance Recommendations
Pneumatic Motor: Relies on oil mist lubrication and requires continuous oil supply via an oiler. Use No. 30 machine oil; hydraulic oil or heavy rock oil is strictly prohibited.
Propulsion Reducer: Check the lubricating oil every 3 months. Replenish if the oil level is low, and replace it every 6 months.
Rotating Gearbox: Apply grease weekly, and clean and replace the grease every 6 months.
