How to Use a Pneumatic Rib Drill Correctly?

Dec 10, 2025|

1. Pre-operation Preparation: Check that the drill rod is straight and the drill bit is sharp. Ensure all components are intact and the pipeline is undamaged. After connecting the compressed air hose, briefly purge the air hose to remove moisture and impurities.

2. Trial Run: With the air-water switch in the off position, repeatedly pull the trigger to check if the switch is flexible and reliable. Then briefly turn it on, listen for normal sound, observe if the operation is smooth, and confirm that air and water flow is normal.

3. Drilling Operation: Two people should work together, placing the drill bit in the predetermined position. Turn on the air first, then the water. Gently press the drill to create a locating depression (approximately 30mm deep), then drill at full speed. After drilling to the desired depth, slow down the rotation speed and use gravity to smoothly withdraw the drill rod.

4. Overpressure Prevention: The working air pressure should be stable within the range of 0.4-0.63MPa. It is strictly forbidden to use the drill exceeding the specified air pressure.

5. Finishing work: Run the drilling rig idle for a while to remove water and prevent rust, check for any damage or loose bolts, and place it in a safe and dry place.
